So… I saw the Dropkick Murphys on Saturday night at the Palladium and Worcester. I didn’t have the best time, I have to say. The show was great, but I’m not a huge fan of the band. They’re excellent but I’m a casual listener and I thing that getting squashed in the front row and having the people around you violate you requires a certain measure of devotion for the band you are seeing. Coheed, yes. Murphys, not so much. Who knows, maybe now that I’ve seen them live I will become a bigger fan.

Anyway the highlight of my night was this visually pleasing staff guy who kept having to lean over me to grab crowd surfers. Needless to say I became a little overly acquainted with certain parts of his anatomy in the process. He had a soft belly. He was uber cute, but I doubt I will ever see him again…at least in any kind of situation where it is appropriate for me to introduce myself and ask him out. Somehow I think those guys are used to front row girls becoming enamoured of them. Oh well….

The Freshman

September 30, 2006

Here it is, my first entry in this new blog. My name is Chelsea and I am a freshman history major at Framingham State College. I have been home from my job for one hour and twenty-six minutes. I work at a grocery store and, as many of you who have also worked in the grocery industry already know, it is hell. Everything about working in a grocery store is degrading and terrible. I do not know why I do this to myself. Fortunately I have the rest of the weekend off, so I will probably take my younger sister, Jillian to see the Guardian since she wants to see it, I don’t have any particular interest in it, really.

What I do have an interest in is Justin Timberlake’s “Sexy Back.” If you knew me you’d find this hilarious because I’m not generally viewed as the type of person who listens to songs called “Sexy Back,” however most people do not begin to fathom the reality of me. All day long I live with the beat and lyrics of this song stuck in my head. While I’m ringing groceries, while I’m driving to school, while I’m test taking and studying. Always “them other boys just don’t know how to aaaccct.” I’m listening to it right now on my laptop. What I like about this song is that it sounds like a hip hop song performed by people who are really tired and too worn out to put a lot of enthusiasm into it…you know, the signature: “yeah.”

I also like a rap/hip hop/whatever song in which two people call eachother promiscuous. I’m not sure what the title is or who it’s by, but ever since the cd player in my car stopped working I’ve been hearing it a lot on the radio. I commute to my school so I spend a lot of time in transit.

I love fanfiction. (This is where a number of you stop reading) And I love fan music videos. I even make them on occasion. I’m listed on youtube as chelswhite if you are interested. I’m obsessed with Prison Break and I also love Joss Whedon’s Buffy and Firefly.

Incidentally, the song is by Nelly Furtado. She’s changed a lot since she first came onto the scene. I’m kind of tired, so I think I will stop here.
