FILM– I said in my last entry that I did not have any particular interest in the movie The Guardian starring Ashton Kutcher and Kevin Costner. I recommend that anyone harboring the same indifference toward this film go out and see it immediately. This was one of the best cinematic experiences I’ve had in a very long time. A classic rescue drama and a heart wrenching story. Ashton Kutcher’s occasionally amazing acting surprises me everytime. I really think people are too hard on him. My one beef with the plot of this movie was the romance aspect. For me it was not developed enough to be relevant. The film could have survived without it, but it didn’t dampen the plot enough to ruin the whole movie. In other words, a couple thumbs up from me.

I stopped into Barnes and Noble after the movie and picked up the Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri. I’ve been thinking about reading it for a while so I’ve finally gotten around to it. College has actually allowed me a lot more free time to read for pleasure since I’m not taking an English class. However, I feel like I’m going to miss out on a lot of the classics that should form the foundation for my intellect….my senior year AP English class was less…way less than adequate.

That’s it.
